High Ground Organics and Two Small Farms: Farm Events 2008

The best part about being a family farm is inviting your family to our farm! Farm events are a great time for you to ask us questions and give us feedback about our program. We will host the CSA Open Farm Day in March. We'll have a Kids' Day and a CSA Potluck at our farm this spring and summer, plus Strawberry U-Picks and a Pumpkin Patch in October. Mariquita Farm will also offer Fava Bean and Tomato/Basil U-Picks at their farm, as well as other fun events. Unless otherwise noted, events are free and open to everybody. CSA Calendar of Events 2008

Farm Open House, Saturday, March 8, 1:00 to 3:00 PM: Join us for a tour of High Ground Organics home farm. We'll see the site of our new apple and pear orchards, our native habitat restoration project, the native insectary hedgerow, cover crops, greenhouse starts, and young crops growing in the field. Meet farmer Steve Pedersen and ask him questions about how your food is being grown!

Redman House Farm Stand Winter hours: , Fri-Sun 12 to 6pm. High Ground Organics’ farmstand is just off Hwy 1 at 129 in Watsonville. Take the Riverside Drive exit from Hwy 1. Go west off the exit, pass the Chevron station, and turn into the farmstand parking area.

Directions to Mariquita Farm

7210 San Felipe Rd., Hollister

Take 101 South or North to Highway 25. Go East on 25 towards Hollister until the intersection with Shore Rd. Go left on Shore Rd. Head north on Shore Rd. to the intersection with San Felipe Rd. Left on San Felipe Rd. and go a mile or so. The entrance to the farm will be on your left just AFTER a beautiful old two-story Victorian home which is located at 7210 San Felipe Rd. Please do not go in the yard of the Victorian. The farm entrance is just after the home. Please drive very very slowly on the dirt driveway to help keep down dust and also to protect your car from holes in the road.

521 Harkins Slough Rd, Watsonville

From the South: Take Hwy 1 north to the Harkins Slough Rd./Green Valley Rd. exit. Turn left onto Harkins Slough Rd (continuation of Green Valley Rd.) Follow this across the freeway, past the new High School, to where the road ends. Take the last dirt road on your left, immediately before the closed gate.

From the North: Take Hwy 1 south to the Hwy 152 Watsonville exit. Turn right at the light onto Green Valley Rd. Follow this across the freeway, past the new High School, to where the road ends. Take the last dirt road on your left, immediately before the closed gate.

Directions to events at the Redman House: From Hwy 1, take Riverside Drive (Hwy 129) exit. Go west off the exit (toward the ocean). Turn right at the stop sign at Lee Rd. Pass the farmstand and turn right into the driveway. Park by the big old house.
