AG Farmstand 5We’re busy this week putting the final touches on our new railcar farmstand before our opening this Wednesday in the new location in the Annieglass parking lot on the corner of Riverside Drive/Highway 129 and Harvest Drive in Watsonville. For ten years we operated the farmstand on the old Redman House property which was sold early this year. Losing our lease there was sad, but we’re really fortunate and excited to be able to open at the Annieglass location.

We’re looking forward to working with Annieglass, and it’s a good fit. Since 1983 Annieglass artist/founder Annie Morhauser has been locally handcrafting glass tableware and serving pieces with the understanding that gathering around a table with good food, surrounded by friends and family, nourishes the soul. Annieglass has introduced weekend wine tasting and factory tours to their production studio, helping to forge the connection between Annieglass’ craft and the food movement. From Annie’s perspective, the addition of an organic farmstand fulfills the missing link and brings Annieglass’ celebration of food full circle, back to the source. We are also impressed with Annieglass’ commitment to environmental sustainability. They recently received the 2015 ARTS Green Award for eco-sustainability, in recognition of the company’s energy efficiency measures, use of biodegradable packing materials, and advocacy and financial support for sustainability in the community.

The new location is just off of Riverside Drive, which is a busy thoroughfare into and out of Watsonville from Highway 1. It’s only a mile from our old location, so our existing customers should have no problem getting to us, and we should have increased visibility from the Riverside Drive traffic and those who come to visit Annieglass.

Getting the box and cooler together has been challenging in the midst of the busy growing season, but it looks like we will have it all in place in the nick of time for tomorrow’s opening. Come visit us when you’re in Watsonville!
